In a recent interview with Spong, Crytek‘s Rasmus Hojengaard stated “Crysis 3 will offer high-end PC users extra ‘visual goodies’ when it releases next year.

“PC players, fundamentally only want Crysis to be on PC, right? And, you know, that’s kind of understandable when you consider how the original game – and even Crytek itself – started out,” he said.

“But, we’re definitely pushing this game a lot from a visual standpoint, and for sure there’s going to be visual goodies in it that you can only get if you have a super-high-end PC.

“At the same time, we want to ensure if you don’t have a super-high-end PC, the game will still look amazing. On top of that, we want to make sure the experience is not different from platform to platform.”

The original Crysis was a PC-only release in 2007, but has since been put out on Xbox360 and PS3 via XBLA and PSN.

Crysis 2 marked the franchise’s arrival on consoles with a release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 alongside the PC version of the game. Crytek came under fire from its community that is made up largely of PC players, when Crysis 2 was released, with accusations of dumbing down PC version just for the sake of consoles.

I just hope that history does not repeat itself and Crysis 3 erases all bad experiences PC gamers had in the past.
