Activision’s new social network service, Call of Duty: Elite service suffered massive launch-day outages yesterday as millions scrambled to register. 

“We are being challenged by a response beyond any of our expectations on day one,” Activision Digital’s vice president Jamie Berger told Kotaku today.

“But we’re making good headway,” he went on to assure gamers, saying that Activision has managed to increase the number of gamers that are able to sign up for the service simultaneously.

“This is like that terrible birthing pains any new online service goes through,” Berger adds.
