Now that Black Ops 2 is official, hype for the much-anticipated video game has started to build up. As is evident in the debut trailer for Black Ops 2, there are some major changes in store for the franchise that has often been criticized for being too cut-and-paste.

Treyarch boss Mark Lamia said that it will blow out fans, and it is their biggest, most ambitious zombies effort ever.

Speaking with Activision community manager Dan Amrich on web show Roll Call, Treyarch’s boss Mark Lamia said “It’ll really blow it out on that front”, hinting at unrevealed new modes added “If you like zombies, you’re going to be really happy with what we’re doing with Black Ops 2. it’s our biggest, most ambitious zombies effort ever.”

Although he wasn’t willing to discuss multiplayer, Lamia went on to promise that, “we are really pushing the boundaries on multiplayer,” but declared it big enough to be “it’s own reveal”.

Treyarch will be using the game’s improved multiplayer engine for zombies, which means double the amount of shuffling corpses to sink your bullets into.

It’ll also be able to handle eight-player co-op against immeasurable hordes of zombies. Strong sales of the original Black Ops‘ Rezurrection DLC has allowed the team working on the updated Black Ops 2 mode to enhance it in which ever way they see fit.

“Treyarch have given their zombie team free reign to do pretty much whatever they want with the mode regardless of the direction the campaign is headed in.”

Lamia also dropped a couple of other small tidbits, noting that “on the [Call of Duty] Elite front, you can expect some real deep integration inside of Black Ops 2″.

The developer said the single-player side will include “non-linear gameplay elements” which Treyarch is “designing into the campaign”, and noted that the team has “done a lot of research into making this plausible near future scenario really resonate with player”
