American comic book writer, former president and chairman of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee was at a recent Fan Expo in Canada and let it slip that the Black Panther movie is indeed happening.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, Stan Lee was asked if Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow will get her own full feature film, He replied: “We haven’t made a Black Widow movie but she’s been in some of our movies, and she will be featured more prominently as we move forward.

Stan Lee: Black Panther Movie Is In Development 1

And the chances are she will have her own movie because eventually all the superheroes are going to have their own movies.

They are already working on Ant-Man, Dr. Strange and the Black Panther and there are others I am not allowed to talk about.”

Marvel is yet to make an official announcement on Dr. Strange, Black Widow and Black Panther movies, but Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige did acknowledge that Black Panther & Captain Marvel are the most requested characters and the development work has been done, it’s continuing to be done on.

With Joss Whedon filming few scenes of Avengers: Age of Ultron in South Africa, its speculated that Black Panther might have a cameo appearance. We will find out on May 1, 2015 though.

Marvel Studios currently has release date for movies until 2019, it certainly seems plausible that Black Panther would make it to list. What do you think? Sound off in the comments below!

Marvel Studios’ upcoming release schedule includes Avengers: Age of Ultron on May 1, 2015, Captain America 3 on May 6, 2016, and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on July 28, 2017.
