Birth of the Dragon Trailer
The martial arts action film stars Philip Ng as Bruce Lee, a martial arts student; Xia Yu as Wong Jack Man, the Shaolin Master; Jin Xing as Auntie Blossom, the brutal crime boss; Billy Magnussen as Steve McKee, a martial arts student; Jingjing Qu 屈菁菁 as Xiulan, McKee’s love interest; and Simon Yin as Vinnie Wei.
Synopsis:
Inspired by a true event. Set against the backdrop of 1960s San Francisco, Birth of the Dragon is a modern take on the classic movies that Bruce Lee was known for.
It takes its inspiration from the epic and still controversial showdown between an up-and-coming Bruce Lee and kung fu master Wong Jack Man – a battle that gave birth to a legend.
Directed by George Nolfi from the script written by Christopher Wilkinson and Stephen J. Rivele.
Produced by Michael London, Janice Williams, Christopher Wilkinson, Stephen J. Rivele and James H. Pang.
Leo Shi Young, David Nicksay and Nolfi serve as executive producers with Helen Y. Zhong, Jaeson Ma and Joel Viertel as co-producers, who also edited the film.
The film was selected to be screened in the Special Presentations section at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.
Birth of the Dragon is scheduled to be released on August 25, 2017.
