Irrational Games and 2k announced two limited-quantity special editions for BioShock Infinite.
In a post on the blog, Ken Levine, creative director and co-founder of Irrational Games describes the process of coming up with these special versions.
“Imagine you get to work with Robb Waters, the concept artist who visualized the cover of System Shock. The Trickster in Thief. Man-Bot in Freedom Force. BioShock’s Little Sisters. Sander Cohen. And BioShock Infinite’s Songbird.”
“Now imagine you can get him to personally conceive and oversee the production of the coolest statue in the world.”
“Then imagine we put that huge sucker in a period-style box, with custom artwork by Robb and Irrational concept artist Jorge Lacera. And that box went IN the collector’s edition box so you could leave that guy unpunched in his original packaging while you tear happily into the rest of the goodies.”
Premium Edition contents ($79.99):
- A 64-page mini edition of Dark Horse Comics’ The Art of BioShock Infinite
- Digital soundtrack
- DLC: Three exclusive Gear power-ups: Bull Rush (makes sprinting melee strikes more effective), Extra! Extra! (audio logs grant extra in-game money), and Betrayer (possessed enemies that you kill explode in a deadly fireball)
- Console Exclusives: Xbox 360 users get Booker and Elizabeth avatar costumes. PC and PS3 players get BioShock Infinite themes
- A 5″ x 7″ Lithograph print of Columbia propoganda
- Handyman Figurine: A 25mm resin-cast figurine for use in the BioShock Infinite: The Siege of Columbia board game
- Murder of Crows 3″ Keychain
- A copy of the game
Ultimate Songbird Edition contents ($149.99):
- All of the contents of the Premium Edition above.
- Songbird Statue: This resin-cast statue is 9.75″ tall and comes with its own box.
Both Collector’s Editions will be available in limited quantities, with pre-orders available from Monday. Irrational will release a new BioShock Infinite trailer this Sunday.
BioShock Infinite is set to release on February 26, 2013 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
