Barajoun Entertainment revealed a new trailer for Bilal (Bilal: A New Breed of Hero), an upcoming 3D animated action-adventure drama.

The first feature-length animated film from the Dubai-based Barajoun, along with being the first Middle Eastern-funded and -produced animated film.

It features the voices of Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jacob Latimore, Ian McShane, China Anne McClain, Michael Gross, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, Fred Tatasciore.

The film shows the life of Bilal ibn Rabah, “one of the most trusted and loyal Sahabah (companions) of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

He was born in Mecca and is considered as the first muezzin, chosen by Muhammad himself. Born as a slave, Bilal was among the emancipated slaves freed by Abu Bakr due to the Islamic teachings of slavery.

Bilal was known for his beautiful voice with which he called people to their prayers. He died sometime between 638 to 642, when he was just over sixty years old.

Bilal ibn Rabah rose to a position of prominence in Islam. His respected stature during the birth of Islam is often cited by Muslims as evidence of the importance of pluralism and racial equality in the foundations of the religion.”

Storyline:
“Bilal, a bright eyed carefree boy ignited with fanciful imagination and a dream only a seven year old can conjure. His voice, a true gift.

On a day as similar as any, this dream turns into a nightmare when the village he lives in is ransacked, orphaning him and his younger sister, Ghufaira.

Thrown in a world where greed and injustice rule all, Bilal and Ghufaira find themselves bound to the chaotic wills and wants of the most powerful man in the City, Umayya.

Dreams of freedom and the warrior he fantasized he would become, are kept deep in Bilal’s yearning heart. Bilal will soon learn he must choose his own fate, and find the courage to raise his voice. Bilal will challenge everything.”

Directed by Khurram Alavi & written with Ayman Jamal, Yassin Kamel.

Bilal is expected to hit theaters worldwide in September 2016.
