According to Michael Pachter, analyst at Wedbush Morgan, Battlefield 4 will dethrone Call of Duty franchise during next gen switch-over.
Speaking with OXM, Pachter said, “The CoD franchise is at or near its peak annual sales potential, and we’ll likely see sales stabilise, Battlefield 4’s launching next autumn and new consoles are coming out, so this is likely to affect sales.”
“It’s unlikely CoD will drop back to Earth in the next few years, as the online multiplayer audience and community is so strong. Activision could always make a mistake, but the franchise is so important to it that a serious error is unlikely. The biggest risk is consumer fatigue – but a few years ago CoD was a WWII shooter, and it morphed into Modern Warfare, then Black Ops. They will work hard to keep it fresh.”
A fellow analyst from EEDAR, Jesse Divnich said, “While momentum is on CoD’s side, the opportunity to dethrone a market leader is highest as consumers transition cycles. We have faith CoD can hold its market dominance, but EA will push to solidify Battlefield as the premiere shooter franchise as we transition to new consoles.”

I belive BF can be really great but i allso COD can leave the real life war games and make it alittle funny and silly for players since BF is to me the more real like war game and while years pass on it will probably be the most real like war game on the market, but like i said there are other options for COD then real life war since its a arcade shooter.
i think COD can do something like this be more unreal like kill streaks that call out aliens, robots, dinosaurs, and other really funny and creative things then they can stand out since i highly think BF real leave the more realistic style they are good at. but who know maybe COD will do what i think is kool?!? im a big BF fan but if COD make those changes im buying both COD and BF.
I believe CALL OF DUTY has had its day. I started off on COD 4, and I have bought every one of the franchise since but the problem I have now is with the poor connections on multi player, the poor respawns, and generally the game feels too cluttered and too narrow, there is a lack of freedom to go where you want on the maps.
I think the decision to let Treyarch make some of the games has actually had a bad effect on the franchise as they never seem to be as good as the ones made by Infinity ward.
The biggest problem with all online multi player games is connection, if the connection is bad that will affect how players rate it and how long they play it.
How long will it be till we see a game dedicated to online play with no mission/ single player game on the disc. Most people go buy a game, take it home and go play online – playing single player is for when you realise how bad the connections are online, you play single player to get gamer score before you sell it, AN THAT IS A FACT!!!
