Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed that Batman Arkam Origins will ship with a multiplayer mode, which is being developed by Splash Damage.

Splash Damage has previously developed Enemy Territories: Quake Wars, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Brink and others.

“The Batman: Arkham Origins Online mode offers players the chance to hunt as Batman or Robin against the most challenging opponents yet, friends and other gamers online.

Players can also take on the role of a Super-Villain Elite and get a peek behind the curtain of what it’s like to side with The Joker or Bane as they establish their legacy by taking down Batman and Robin, and anyone else who gets in their way.

Fans will even be able call in the ultimate reinforcement to help turn the tide in any match by playing as The Joker or Bane themselves.”

The online mode will be available for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. It won’t be included in Wii U version, Warner Bros. spokesperson told Eurogamer that ” The team is focusing development efforts on platforms with the largest MP audience.”

That sure comes as a disappointment for Wii U fans who were hoping to buy the game for Nintendo’s console, and following the confirmation earlier today that Wii U only sold 160,000 units globally within the last quarter, Wii U has so far moved only 3.61 million units worldwide.

Batman: Arkham Origins will releases on October 25, 2013 for Wii U, Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
