Director Joss Whedon and Avengers will re-assemble in January 2015 for two weeks of reshoots for Marvel’s upcoming American superhero film, Avengers: Age Of Ultron in London.
According to reports from Dailymail, Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Paul Bettany (The Vision), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) will shoot extra scenes to add more “a bit more kick-ass on an extravagant scale” at Pinewood Studios in London, United Kingdom.
Looks like Chris Evans (Captain America) won’t be involved in the reshoots.
You should keep in mind that the reshoots are just a standard way to add extra scenes, it doesn’t mean the film is in trouble.
Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron features 12 VFX vendors from 6-7 countries working on over 3,000 visual effects shots.
Additionally, Marvel’s two-part sequel Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 and Part 2 will shoot back-to-back at Pinewood Studios in London, which doesn’t come as a surprise since Part 1 is scheduled for May 4, 2018 with Part 2 scheduled for May 3, 2019.
According to rumors, Russo Brothers (Joe and Anthony Russo) might take over the Avengers franchise from Whedon after wrapping up Captain America: Civil War.
Storyline:
“When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance.
As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for a global adventure.”
Avengers: Age Of Ultron is scheduled for release on April 24 in the UK & Ireland, May 1, 2015 in US.

After what they did with re-Assembling (see what I did there?) for re-shoots on Avengers 1, which turned out to be the post-credit schwarma scene (notice how poor Chris Evans has to keep his hand to his chin to hide the beard he grew for what film he was working on during this reshoot), part of this doesn’t surprise me. Hiddleston, however, being included in that bunch does though as I was under the impression we’d only be glimpsing him and Idris Elba’s Heimdall in Thor’s flashback, nightmare or hallucination scenes created by the Scarlet Witch when she mind-hexes them all. Which was what lead me to why Iron Man’s Hulkbuster has to come out to contain a mind-warped and enraged Hulk in South Africa (or whatever city is being portrayed there).
But, as for the rest getting more screen time and not Cap, that part doesn’t surprise me since I can picture him already having plenty of his own action scenes in the film based on my guess as to some of the scenes are that we can glimpse in the 2 teasers and leaked clip that alludes to the Civil War dispute. I’m referring to the film opening on a scene involving Cap (accompanied by Mackie’s Falcon since he was said to cameo in the film and isn’t in the hammer worthy scene where we saw all the other supporting people such as War Machine, Maria Hill, Fury, but not Coulson or his SHIELD team) pursuing his buddy Bucky, the Winter Soldier, while HYDRA has him out on another assassination mission which Cap may be trying to thwart and/or save his buddy, of which then he gets the call to assemble the Avengers. And I have a feeling he’s got another big action spot when he’s breaking down that door to what is most likely the HYDRA cell hideout where the twins are being housed. Right? IMDB’s page for Avengers 1 has someone that did a breakdown for all the Avengers to show who got how much screen time and believe it or not, Cap was on top. And that’s not including all his expositional scenes that were cut as well, including Stan Lee’s other cameo, the old gym, the subway ride and him lingering on old photos of Howard Stark and Peggy that he just can’t lift the phone to call and the Acura product placement plug scene. Whedon’s uncut version would’ve been 4 hours long. I kinda wish he would’ve pulled a Peter Jackson and put together an Extended Edition film disc for us to buy. I totally would’ve snagged that up in a heartbeat.
As for Age of Ultron re-shooting to add more action and screen time for them, good. The more movie, the merrier to me. And the team-up movies should be tons of action for all the heroes to show off. But, I kinda would want more from the new characters, specifically the twins since there’s no telling in which films we’d see them next. Would be nice to see them pick a side in Cap 3: Civil War and then Quicksilver goes on adventures and discovers Attilan, where he’ll eventually meet his future wife, Crystal.

As for Age of Ultron re-shooting to add more action and screen time for them, good. The more movie, the merrier to me. And the team-up movies should be tons of action for all the heroes to show off. Iron Man’s films were all about business and technology. Thor’s should feel like fantasy epics taking place on other lush worlds ala LotR style. And Cap’s gave us historical fiction and then an awesome political thriller/conspiracy theory movie. So, for the team movies I would want to see more from the characters that don’t have their own films (since RDJ’s already said Hawkeye has plenty to do in this and Renner only values the Avenging Archer as an ensemble character despite how rich his comicbook history is), specifically the twins since there’s no telling in which films we’d see them next. Would be nice to see them pick a side in Cap 3: Civil War (if they don’t by the end of AoU, where I’m guessing Vision liberates and frees them from Ultron, right?) and then Quicksilver goes on adventures and discovers Attilan, where he’ll eventually meet his future wife, Crystal.
Right?
