Ubisoft has announced a new Assassin’s Creed short animated movie titled Assassin’s Creed Embers. The short, developed by UbiWorkshop, will be available with the Assassin’s Creed Revelations Animus Edition, with the Collector Edition, and for digital download on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Network.

Assassin’s Creed franchise is one that has improved exponentially throughout the years. While the first game has a ton of potential, it was bogged down by repetitive gameplay and terrible mission structure and only after Assassin’s Creed II did Ubisoft really hit their stride. Now as they plan on wrapping up Ezio’s tale with Assassin’s Creed Revelations this November, Ubisoft are also releasing a 20 minute short animated film for that extra sense of closure.

According to Ubisoft, “Embers will expand on the final chapter of the life of master assassin Ezio Auditore and a journey that has spanned more than four decades”.

The short film appears to explore the life of Ezio after Revelations, and shows the familiar assassin far older than we’ve ever seen him.

Check out the trailer for the animated film, which includes narration from the starring assassin of AC 2, Brotherhood, and Revelations.

As per the trailer, Ezio is an old man living the good life with his wife and child, wary of the fact that someone out there is trying to take him down. Of course, when the poop hits the fan, old man or not, Ezio breaks out his blades to rain down some serious pain on his enemies.
