Ubisoft dropped a story trailer & new screens for their upcoming historical action-adventure open world, Assassin’s Creed Unity.
“The French Revolution is in full swing and the city and its people are embroiled in chaos.
As the people of Paris find themselves wrapped up in an epic, bloody struggle, Arno will have to navigate shifting alliances, betrayal, and conspiracies to steer the revolution and uncover the truth.”
“We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff. Technically we’re CPU-bound.
The GPUs are really powerful, obviously the graphics look pretty good, but it’s the CPU [that] has to process the AI, the number of NPCs we have on screen, all these systems running in parallel.
We were quickly bottlenecked by that and it was a bit frustrating, because we thought that this was going to be a tenfold improvement over everything AI-wise, and we realized it was going to be pretty hard.
It’s not the number of polygons that affect the framerate. We could be running at 100fps if it was just graphics, but because of AI, we’re still limited to 30 frames per second.”
Ubisoft’s sixth installment Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag also ran at 900p/30fps on both PS4 and Xbox one during launch. However, a post-launch update bumped the PS4 version to 1080p.
Assassin’s Creed Unity will release on November 11 in North America, November 13 in Europe & November 14, 2014 in UK for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
