Ubisoft’s upcoming action-adventure open world, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag gets new gameplay videos from Rev3 Games and Eurogamer previews.
“In addition to the expanded naval game and open world, Ubisoft Singapore has added a brand new gameplay area to ACIV: Black Flag: underwater areas. Tara spoke with the gameplay designer to figure out what’s under the water, and how many new animals we have to fear.”
Eurogame’s Ian talks with Ubisoft’s Lead Game Designer Sebastien Burton about ACIV: Black Flag’s side quests and offers Shark Harpooning gameplay video:
Underwater gameplay turns the tides on the player in that they’re the prey in an environment where they’re powerless. You’ll have to look out for sharks, eels, jellyfish, sea urchins, and sea currents as you explore.
Of course, there weren’t oxygen masks during the Golden Age of Pirates, but the game provides a “fully generous spec meter” that allows players to explore “for quite a while” before running out of air. Oxygen sources such as “air pockets” and “special tools calls air barrels” can be found underwater, according to Michael Hampton senior game designer.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will launch on October 29th in the US, and November 1st everywhere else for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. PC version will release after the console versions and a launch title for PS4 and Xbox One.
