Ubisoft’s upcoming historical action-adventure open world, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate won’t include a multiplayer mode, according to CEO Yves Guillemot.
During Ubisoft’s FY15 earnings call last night, Yves Guillemot said, “This game will be single-player. We don’t know and we can’t say yet.. We know but we can’t say yet about what will happen next.
You don’t have a multiplayer mode on this iteration because we want to spend all our time on making sure the single-player is excellent and it’s coming along extremely well,” he concluded.
Elsewhere, In an interview with GameSpot, Creative director Marc-Alexis Cote explains the reason behind developing Assassin’s Creed Syndicate without multiplayer mode: “The reason we are doing this is to really focus on the roots of the franchise. That’s why all nine studios are focused on delivering this single-player experience.”
Executive producer Francois Pelland cited technical reasons as a major decision to develop Assassin’s Creed Syndicate as a single player only: “We felt like, especially with the type of fight that we have, a very hand-to-hand, very close combat fight, that we needed to have very high responsiveness on the system.
That’s one thing. It’s navigation as well. When we decided two years and a half ago, we said, let’s do London of 1868. You cannot have vehicles that are just cosmetic.
You cannot have vehicles that are just there to look good. Players would have said, I want to drive those things. That adds complexity to the thing. It’s more technical reasons [for leaving out multiplayer.]”
The new entry in Assassin’s Creed was revealed yesterday, you can check out the complete details here.
