Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has officially confirmed that Assassin’s Creed III will be the next installment and it will release on October 30 this year, following earlier confirmation that Far Cry 3 will release on September 6.
The date was announced via a financial call to investors today, October date brings the game a few weeks ahead of the series’ traditional November launch.
“Assassin’s Creed III is the true next generation of both the Assassin’s Creed brand and interactive entertainment/storytelling in general,” the exec said (via Joystiq).
“We will push the title a lot because it’s a fantastic product that the team has been working for three years,” said CEO Yves Guillemot. “What we have seen is just fabulous.”
He went on to say the publisher’s investing more heavily in the game than in any other title in the series – and that he expects it to outperform Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
Ubisoft also announced during its call to investors today that 7 million copies of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations shopped during the company’s Q3 ending December 31.
Assassin’s Creed III will star a new protagonist. Various locations for the game have been rumored over the months, with Egypt, China, and America during the Revolutionary period the running favorites. The French Revolution is also the rumor as well.
