The Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to play Pietro Maximoff / Quicksilver in Marvel’s upcoming American superhero film, Avengers: Age of Ultron, according to The Wrap.
Source close to the sequel told The Wrap that, “Aaron Taylor-Johnson has finally worked out his schedule and closed a deal to play Pietro Maximoff, better known as Quicksilver, in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.
He didn’t close his deal until Wednesday, as Avengers: Age of Ultron shooting schedule overlaps with his upcoming publicity tour for Legendary’s Godzilla reboot. That potential obstacle has been overcome and his availability to properly promote that creature feature and shoot the Avengers sequel is now ensured.”
Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver will be the second take of the character to hit big screen. Evan Peters will play the same role in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.
It features an ensemble cast that includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and James Spader.
“As the US Government create a force, known as Ultron, The Avengers are told they are not needed any longer. But when Ultron turns against Humanity, it’s time for The Avengers to assemble yet again for their most dangerous challenge ever.”
Avengers: Age Of Ultron is scheduled for release on May 1, 2015.
