The 12th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards nominees have been announced.
Produced by the UBM TechWeb Game Network, the Awards are the most prestigious honors in the world of video game development.
Nominations this year are led by Portal 2, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Bastion along with Batman: Arkham City, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Dark Souls.
In its 12th year of celebrating the top games and developers, the Game Developers Choice Awards will recognize the creativity, artistry and technical genius of leading industry professionals. The awards ceremony takes place the evening of March 7, during GDC 2012 in San Francisco, CA.
Awards in 13 categories are open for nominations to games that launched to retail or debuted online during the 2011 calendar year as well as the three special awards, Lifetime Achievement, Pioneer Award and Ambassador Award, which are open to anyone not previously recognized.

Winners will be selected by the Game Developers Choice Awards-specific International Choice Awards Network (ICAN), which is an invitation-only group comprised of 500 leading game creators from all parts of the video game industry.
