The Green Band version of the new trailer, which was released in Red Band form last week, is now online.
The Ruben Fleischer-directed action comedy, opening August 12th, stars Jesse Eisenberg, Danny McBride, Aziz Ansari, Nick Swardson and Michael Pena. In the film, Nick (Eisenberg) is a small town pizza delivery guy whose mundane life collides with the big plans of two wanna-be criminal masterminds (McBride and Swardson). The volatile duo kidnaps Nick and forces him to rob a bank. With mere hours to pull off the impossible task, Nick enlists the help of his ex-best friend, Chet (Ansari). As the clock ticks, the two must deal with the police, hired assassins, flamethrowers, and their own tumultuous relationship.
There are a number of pretty amusing scenes in this preview alone (the teddy bear/bomb gag and exchange between Chet, Nick, and the grocery clerk stand out in particular). So what happens when you reinsert all the naughty language and crude dialogue?

Opinions may vary on this, but the red band trailer for 30 Minutes or Less seems to give the jokes and one-liners more oomph than they already had in edited form — and in some cases, the humor makes more sense (see: Nick’s comment to Chet about washing his mouth out). That’s certainly a better sign than in the case where the red band trailer basically amounts to a foul-mouthed, but not actually funnier, version of its green band counterpart (Bad Teacher, looking at you).
Aziz Ansari and Jesse Eisenberg tend to do much better when they’re playing supporting characters, rather than being required to carry a show or movie themselves — so that bodes well for them playing a pair of bums-turned-criminal-masterminds (sort of) in the film as well.
