Naughty Dog’s PlayStation Vita action-adventure game, Uncharted: Golden Abyss was considered for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, according to Arne Meyer.

At UK’s biggest games event, EGX 2015 last week, Power Up Gaming asked Naughty Dog Community Strategist, Arne Meye – why Uncharted Golden Abyss wasn’t included in Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, he replies: “It was definitely under consideration, because we were trying to see how we could collect all of the Uncharted games.

But when we went back and looked at what we were trying to do with the Nathan Drake Collection, we realized that those three games – the trilogy – actually provided a particular narrative arc that led into Uncharted 4.

We wanted to keep that as a holistic collection for that reason, and Golden Abyss kind of lives a little bit outside of that.”

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection also doesn’t include Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception multiplayer, Meyer goes on to explain the reason why multiplayer wasn’t included:

“It was a really difficult decision for us, but it was one that we actually took early on, because we were thinking about both our player population – we still have players playing Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 multiplayer, and we still haven’t shut those servers down; we don’t have a plan to do that right now – and so, we were like, did we want to affect that player population, and splinter it even more so.”

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection features Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception remastered for PS4 in 1080p/60fps.

Pre-order the collection now to get Nathan Drake Pack, which includes single-player skins of iconic Drake outfits, as well as the ‘Golden AK-47’ and ‘Golden 92FS’ guns & exclusive access to Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End multiplayer Beta.

A playable demo from the collection is due to hit PlayStation Store on Sepetember 29, 2015. The collection will require 40GB of HDD space for installation on PS4.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection developed by Bluepoint Games, it is set to be released for PS4 on October 7 in Europe and October 9, 2015 in North America.
