Screen Gems’ feature film based on Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic action-adventure survival horror game, The Last of Us won’t follow the storyline, but will include some elements and the tone, according to Neil Druckmann.

Neil Druckmann is currently working on two projects, writing a script for The Last of Us Movie and co-directing Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.

Neil Druckmann: The Last of Us Movie Will Be Faithful To The Game 1

In an interview with GameInformer, Druckmann was asked how he splits the time between projects, He said, “When I’m in the office, it’s all Uncharted 4 all the time.

When I should be sleeping, it’s the Uncharted movie. The interviewer then corrects him, “Yeah, sorry, The Last of Us movie.”

He further confirms that he is not writing Uncharted Movie.

Neil Druckmann was quizzed how faithful the movie will be to the game, He replied: “Pretty faithful to the game.

There are some big changes, but the tone and what the story’s trying to say is pretty faithful to the game.”

This is much better than his August 2014 statement that the movie will be quite different to the game.

Druckmann notes that he has already finished the second draft of the script, it is coming along “really well” and a group of actors have done a table read through of first draft.

The Last of Us Movie will be written by Neil Druckmann and produced by Sam Raimi. A director for movie is yet to be announced.
