Activision updated the official website of Call of Duty franchise, displaying a countdown timer and cryptic imagery pertaining to their next installment of the Call of Duty franchise, which rumours have pegged as Black Ops 2.

CallofDuty.com promises the global reveal of a new game during the May 1 NBA playoffs on US cable channel TNT.

New Call of Duty Reveal On May 1 1

The featured background on the site matches up perfectly with a supposed retailer leak from last week. The website also features a variety of  “classified” logos, most of which are scheduled to unlock over the next few days.

The website’s source code includes “Black Ops,” trademark as spotted by NEOGAF member, lending credence that this new game is indeed a sequel.

Call of Duty: Black Ops outsold 2009′s Modern Warfare 2, and analysts believe it has out-performed Modern Warfare 3 so far.

Obviously only a few days remain before the first images are declassified, with an official announcement coming May 1. Stay tuned.

Black Ops 2 is expected to release on November 13, 2012 for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
