Assassin’s Creed III has sold approximately 3.5 million copies worldwide during its first week on sale.

According to the Ubisoft, sales of the ACIII have doubled those of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations during its first week of availability in 2011.

For the first half of the 2012-13 fiscal year ending September 30, Ubisoft reported a loss of €58.1 million ($74.4 million) due to development costs and marketing associated with both Assassin’s Creed III and Far Cry 3.

“First-week sell-through sales for Assassin’s Creed III are estimated at over 3.5 million units, representing a year-on-year increase of more than 100 per cent,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot as the publisher announced its sales and earnings for the six months ended September 30, 2012.

Assassin’s Creed III launched last week on Xbox 360 and PS3. It charted in the UK at No.1, following record week one sales for the series.
